Rob first referenced Reader’s Digest Complete Do-it-yourself Manual, for construction practices and techniques at the age of 8. It explained - in a simple and organized manner - the seemingly complex built environment. Combined with a steady dose of ceramics, drawing, sculpture, and art, Rob was destined for architecture. Rob understands what it means to ‘pursue your passion.’

Rob graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech in 1995. Upon graduation he returned home to Pittsburgh building a career in masterplanning, designing, and delivering exceptional places for people to live, work, and play. Along the way, Rob assisted friends and family with home and business design projects, encouraging the launch of Sliced Bread Architecture as a full service architectural practice.

Rob’s core values stem from the family. Specifically, his paternal grandfather (Baker), and maternal grandfather (Inventor) - both sole-proprietors in their own respects, and who have inspired the name: Sliced Bread Architecture.

If you can’t find Rob in the garden, he is likely at Home Depot or out walking the dogs.

Through a professional, customized, and hands-on process, SBA will identify guiding design principles based on your core values and project goals. We will apply these principles judiciously while establishing a more thoughtful and meaningful decision-making process as we select, organize, and form elements of your project. Design integration of seemingly disparate elements adds value to the project as a whole in terms of increased viability, return on investment, cost-effectiveness, and improved schedule. Let’s work together!
